From 1971 until 1994 the Dodge Colt manufacturing continued producing two and three door cars in sedan and station wagon variants. The Dodge Colt gained 83 hp when the MCA Jet 1.6L received gross to net horsepower conversions in 1972. The Astron 2.6L delivered 105 bhp as optional power and some models allowed buyers to select manual five-speed transmission for improved performance. Four-speed manual transmission was the standard but buyers could opt for a three-speed TorqueFlite automatic transmission. The five-speed manual transmission went on sale during 1977. Two spinning warring shafts operated in the Dodge Colt's balance shaft system to balance vibrations which provided better driving stability. All station wagon along with hatchback models featured foldable rear seats through their body design for increasing cargo space. The owners of Dodge Colt vehicles have the option to buy manufacturer-approved components which pass intensive qualification exams thus upholding factory-grade specifications for robust performance and correct installation.
